Although my full name is the Smithsonian American Art Museum, my friends call me SAAM. My collection predates the founding of the Smithsonian, and remains one of the largest of American Art in the world. Since 1972 I’ve had a sister museum, the Renwick Gallery, which features the nation's foremost collection of American craft objects and decorative arts. Together we capture the aspirations, character and imagination of the American people throughout three centuries of America's cultural heritage.
