The only place you'll want to spend more time in jail!

The Amelia Island Museum of History, a not-for-profit organization, fosters community and visitor appreciation of Nassau County’s unique history within the broader context of Florida, national, and world history.

Visitors to the Amelia Island Museum of History are invited to "Unlock the Past," as they enter the renovated 1935 Nassau County Jail which houses historical objects and archaeological finds. Florida's only spoken history museum highlights the history of the Island of Eight Flags. A one hour tour given at 11 AM and 2 PM every Monday through Saturday at the Museum, and at 2 PM every Sunday afternoon, highlights the events and people that shaped Fernandina's spectacular history. Cost is $7.00/adults and $4.00/students and is included in your Museum admission.

The Museum also offers visitors a chance to stroll back in time during its walking tours. Fascinating stories of people and events that shaped Fernandina's history come alive during this one-hour tour that starts at the old railroad depot located at 102 Centre Street. Tours begin Fridays and Saturdays at 3:30 p.m., September through May.

Dark streets come alive through the skillful storytelling of your guide during the Museum's Ghost Tour. The one-hour tours begin in the cemetery behind St. Peter's Episcopal Church located at 801 Atlantic Avenue on Friday evenings about 6:00 p.m.
