My name is Ammar Alothman , Kuwaiti photographer (Freelance photographer) .



Since my childhood I found cameras appealing, whether video or still. I was always the first to document our social events at home for I consider photography to be one of the best ways of recording all the good memories; I believe a single photo can substitute a thousand words.

Photography, as a hobby, has always lived inside me despite the fact that I was not practicing it seriously until 2004 when I started searching the internet and browsing relevant forums, it was that time- which I call my true beginning- when I began to learn and read from all available sources online until I became conversant with the basics of the profession and was able to properly set and use a camera. My very first beginning was with the semi-professional SONY F828 camera, and by 2005 I possessed my first professional SLR camera, a Nikon D70S. In the meantime I am a happy Canon user.

During that period of time I gained a great deal of experience in commercial photography. I was part of several photographic projects for large companies in Kuwait and the Gulf region. My door to this field was opened by Tamdeen Real Estate Company which proved to have a valuable appreciation and belief in Kuwaiti talents.

I have tried all kinds of photography and I like them all but there is of course a category or two which I prefer the most, these are the Macro and Portrait. In portrait photography I always find a special magic by expressing a situation, an idea or a view to which a photo gives a lot of meaning further beyond the ability of the tongue to explain and express. Macro moreover, is the other world that we do not see in our day to day life; it harbors a secret beauty which I very much enjoy revealing to people out there.

I also have a big interest in displaying Kuwait’s celebrations and bringing out its beauty to the viewers through my webpage on the internet because Kuwait deserves to be shown in its most glamorous way and the world should see it exactly as we do; I consider this a responsibility, a national duty, and the least that I can give to my beloved country.

I am a member of Kuwait Voluantari Work Center (photography & documentary team). I met a group of great photographers and friends over there.

I acknowledge with gratitude all the members of the Center for the support they offered to enrich my talent and skills in the field; that for sure has helped me achieve my aims in photography.
