Husband to a beautiful wife, Darlene. Father to great kids (mine and hers) Deanna, Jennifer, Michelle, Jesse and Jessica. My two dogs, Molly the lab and Ellie the Boxer-Border Collie mix are also members of the family. A birder since age 12 and instantly hooked. Always interested in nature and natural things- I feel a kinship with it. I am the only birder in my family. The rest just don't get it.

Almiyi is the Chumash Indian word for "condor" and since I have a percentage of Chumash blood coursing through my veins it seemed appropriate to use it, although I'm not certain how to say it. Photography is a secondary hobby and allows me to capture birds in their natural world for later study. I also enjoy painting, drawing and illustrating birds, some of which have been published.
