Hello! My name is Alisha! I used to have two wonderful hamsters. But sadly, Bonnie and Clyde passed away recently.

Bonnie was one of my hamsters. She was only 2 years old when she died. Bonnie didn't necessarily die of old age. She died because she was sick. Very sick. I first noticed her sickness in April 2008. I combed her fur and I noticed that a lot of fur peeled away from her skin. At first I thought it was normal. I was wrong. It is a lot worse. After a couple weeks. She was nearly furless. I was deeply worried. Taking a hamster to the vet cost a lot of money. And I didn't have the money to take her. After a couple months, her skin flaked. I heard that if a hamster has skin problems, it's best if you give them a short bath. So I proceeded to do that. She got better for a week. But no later she returned into the flaky skin she had. After a couple months more, her skin started to rot. Literally. She was a zombie. Her body was dead already. But inside her organs managed to still work. Her ears curled and withered. They turned black and rotted against the side of her forehead. Her shiny white fur I used to know turned black. And she also smelled like she was dead. She turned blind. I could notice this because she would sometimes run into things. I knew she couldn't hear anymore. Her ears were rotted shut. Some of her limbs were failing. Her left leg didn't work anymore. She kept falling over. Her eyes were always crusty. Some parts of her died already. The only major thing that kept her alive was her heart. All I could do was to supply water, food, and shelter. When she died, she died trying miserably to get up. She fell over due to her left leg. She was on her side. She was trying to get back on her feet so she could crawl into her dome house. Each attempt failed. Soon, she couldn't go on. She had no energy left. Her heart was pumping slowly. She gave up on life and died painfully. All I'm thankful of is, that she doesn't have to suffer anymore. She's moved on. She went back to Earth. I'm just most deeply sad is that she tried to get up and gave up. I'm sad that she got sick in the first place. She died because she didn't have enough love. I regret it so much for not paying as much attention to her ever since she got sick. I was just afraid of playing with her because she could get sicker. But that's not the only reason. She just needed more courage and love. Clyde, my other hamster, is also depressed lately. He always hated Bonnie. But he still grew up with her. I hope Bonnie knows that she at least tried her best to live very long with such a bad sickness. I'm proud of her.

Clyde, my other wonderful hamster, lived a happy healthy life. He died on February 24th. He had no sickness. He died of old age. In the morning, I woke up and Clyde was still under his house. My mom wanted to give him food. But my mom lifted up the dome. And Clyde has passed away. He was curled in a tight ball. He had all of his fur. I'm not as sad as when Bonnie died. Clyde died peacefully. Bonnie, on the other hand, died the hard way. I hope Clyde had a fun time living at my home. Bonnie and Clyde will always be remembered.

I'm planning to buy another hamster sometime. Maybe soon, I could post photos of him/her.
