Where does one begin?
-- Let's start with a few tidbits about me. --
Picture this [Think Sophia Petrillo.] Worcester, MA - 1976.
Tony and Kathy had been married for almost 5.5 years and she is "prego" with number two. Numero Uno, is Jennifer, born in 1971, she is a gold medal special olympic softball and swimming athlete, who also has medaled in bowling, track and basketball.
I was born July 15th, and my mother proudly tells anyone that will listen, that rather than labor pains, she endured painful and odoriferous gas, so I am known to her and her only as her little fart.
My name is a composite of my father's and my grandfather's, respectively and rather than "Little Tony" it was chosen that I would be "A.J." or Anthony Joseph when the bedroom was a mess or I was misbehaving.
I went to catholic school for all but fifth and sixth grades. In college I learned that I only have what I took from the experience. There is only one good education, and that is the compilation of life's lessons and those skills learned in the field, coupled with the intelligent and logic learned in the classroom.
-- The family abstract. [OR "The Abstract Family"] --
With Mom (K) Jennifer participates in the community through her volunteer work at the Seven Hills Foundation Bingo and is a star team member with the Shewsbury, MA Parks and Recreation Special Needs Program. Both organizations have also enlisted my parent's as board members, fundraisers and cheering, screaming and joy filled sports fans.
Mom (K) b. 1943 a few days before Christmas, grew up across the street from the house where I was raised. She is a retired Worcester Public School Teacher, a past honoree of the Seven Hills Foundation and the Friends of the Retarded, and the daughter of my Nannie, who worked into her late sixties as an emergency room nurse.
Dad (T) b. 1945, the oldest of seven, is a former
funeral director's assistant
city bus driver
softball umpire
basketball referee
volunteer, special olympics international
volunteer and donor/supporter, Shewsbury, MA P&R SNP
inspiration to many, through his kind and quiet leadership.
He passed away 6/19/04, after a one year battle with cancer. Dad was the type of man who made friends everywhere and was highly respected by many. His greatest lesson given to me was his strong and fine tuned ability to listen. He said more with his facial expression that with words, by choice. His eloquence was awed.
