Hello! First of all, thanks for stopping by my stream!
So a little bit about me...my name is Aileen. I was born in China and grew up in the U.S. I love China and am so proud of where I came from! I graduated college with an Engineering degree and am currently a financial auditor/consultant. Though I like my job, my true passion has and always will be art.
I love art, of all mediums, and I see a photograph very much as a piece of artwork, like a painting. Photography is, after all, painting with light...or so I was told :P. Because of this, I like taking macro/abstract and brokeh photos. I want to show not just what our eyes can see, but the beautiful magic that only a lens can create :).
I think there are many types of photography and many subjects, each with their own uniqueness and elegance. The subjects I love and truly move me are of nature in general, flowers and plants in particular. In a real sense, I think each artist tries to convey emotion and beauty in their works. What I try to convey is the beauty of nature that surrounds us but are easily overlooked, a thorny shrub, a chastised weed, a wild flower... I think it’s so easy for us to get wrapped up in our own lives and problems that sometimes we neglect to notice the simple things that make life worth living. Through my photos, I hope to bring some of those things to your attention. I think Georgia O’Keefe said it best:
“When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else.”
If I had made your day a little brighter, if I had inspired you take a stroll through nature or stop to notice a flower as you go through your busy day, then I feel like I have succeeded :).
To me, photography is still very new, and I still have so much to learn, but that’s what I love most about Flickr. I am constantly inspired and moved by the works of so many talented photographers. Your photos and comments are such a source of motivation and inspiration, and I truly appreciate it!
