Welcome to the GLOBAL PHOTO ARCHIVE -- home to over 7,000 copyright-cleared photos by Adam Jones. I'm Professor of Political Science at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna, BC, Canada. I've written or edited fifteen books, including Genocide: A Comprehensive Introduction and Crimes Against Humanity: A Beginner's Guide. I'm also a passionate traveller who has lived or voyaged in some 75 countries on every populated continent. They are posted under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 license. Many are crossposted, generally under the same titles, to Wikimedia Commons. I acknowledge a huge debt to the individuals, often unknown to me, who appear in my people shots. I recognize the sensitivity of presenting them to wide viewing and offering images of them for general use. My creative strategy is to record subjects in the evanescent moment that we share. I offer the results as a tribute to their uniqueness and vitality, and as a celebration of humanity as a whole. I believe that no subject is presented in a way that could reasonably be construed as disrespectful, demeaning, or invasive. Virtually every such photo is taken in a public setting. I trust that this constitutes a "fair use" of their personas in my photography, and supports its distribution under a Creative Commons license.
