I strive to create art that the viewer is able to socialize with. My works are usually figurative. I feel that a figure is more intimate than any other subject since it gives the viewer an immediate relation with the piece. There is nothing more exciting for me, than art that is able to emotionally evoke a viewer. I like my artwork to speak out and choose bold colors to grab the viewer's attention and curiosity..
My paintings reflect my current interests. During this past year, I have been fascinated with capturing the symbolic representation of the Madonna by focusing on the story she carries in her beautfiul facial expression. I like to add other elements that I am intrigued with in my work such as, birds, bird houses, pearls, and human anatomy. I like the characters in my pieces to resemble how exposed I feel during the process of creating that is why I choose to paint the human heart in many of my pieces and have my subject show other forms of being revealed. I find painting to be very therapeutic since it has helped me better understand myself.
I am inspired by surrealist work like Salvador Dali. Also by pop surrealist work like Mark Ryden, Lori Earley, and Naoto Hattori. I love staring at paintings from the old masters like Sandro Botticelli's roman mythology work and other renaissance paintings. I also enjoy all iconographical religious art like buddhism, christianity, and hinduism.
