Seeking...and finding...solitude and peace...

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach...and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

-- Henry David Thoreau

-------------------------------------------

To my new-found friends who have provided, through a passion for photography (and much more, I think), expressions of interest and concern and insight totally unexpected...providing a more optimistic view of our world than previously considered. You have provided renewal and I thank you for being...and sharing.

To a very special few, you have already provided more than you know...a rebirth of faith in the basic good character of people, yet a confirmation that few ever realize the potential one's soul so cries for...or even make the attempt. It is enough to continue to try...

And for all of you:

In art, the hand can never execute anything higher than the heart can imagine.

-- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Treat a work of art like a prince. Let it speak to you first.

-- Arthur Schopenhauer

---------------------------------

If a man stands high in Nature's lists it is natural and inevitable that he should feel solitary. It will be an advantage to him if his surroundings do not interfere with this feeling; for if he has to see many other people who are not of like character with himself, they will exercise a disturbing influence upon him, adverse to his peace of mind; they will rob him, in fact, and give him nothing to compensate for the loss.

-- Arthur Schopenhauer

________

Let each one examine his thoughts, and he will find them all occupied with the past and the future. We scarcely ever think of the present, and if we think of it, it is only to take light from it to arrange the future...So we never live, but we hope to live; and, as we are always preparing to be happy, it is inevitable we should never be so.

--Blaise Pascal

________

As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.

-- Henry David Thoreau

    AleFletcher *★* Happy 2012 *★* says:

"Alan Walden, a photographer who is able to capture in his images all the various and beautiful aspects of nature! His photos are real paintings, they always represent something so quiet and serene!
You look at these lovely compositions with those soft and warm colours and they immediately give you a peaceful feeling!
He is a big nature lover but not only this...sometimes he wonder us with some of his great creative works, the abstract!
But the most attractive images remain, for me, those in which he delights us with the wonderful view in front of his porch : I call it " the magic place near the lake "...

    Best regards from Italy!
    Ale"

Rich Eye (Admin. Invites Only) says:

"Walden is a wonderful photographer. He is also a philosopher. What is special for me is that he manages to embody his philosophical feel for real life in the moment in his photography. Thus his work is not only beautiful, but revelatory of the present moment--which of course is all that we have, the rest having already been or only perhaps to be. I treasure his art as I learn from his wisdom."

"Mr. A.Walden; there is something very calm about this man whom I know very little of and there is something very profound and perceptive about his photographs and the meaning he gives them through his words and knowledge. His uploads are very natural and refreshing. Wish you all the best!"
