Photography is a very heartfelt passion of mine and if I could devote my entire life to it, I most definitely would. Sadly, the bills do have to get paid and everyone needs to eat... so I have a day job and have worked in the computer/software industry for over 10 years. I’ve held many positions (graphic designer, creative director) throughout my career, always trying to stay close to the creative production related functions. I’ve used Photoshop for as long as I can remember it being around.
I’ve always been fascinated with photography and can remember running around the house as a child with a camera that had no film inside of it. I was so fascinated with the sound of the shutter and looking through the viewfinder to get a different framed perspective of the world around me. While my friends all wanted to be firemen and scientists, I was off aspiring to be a future “paparazzi”. Ok, not really, but something with a camera. Though I dabbled growing up, it wasn’t until digital, that I became serious about my photography. I’ll never forget my first 1 megapixel Kodak digital camera... Wow that seems so long ago. I was fascinated by the concept of renewable film and kept snapping away and becoming instantly gratified by the picture I could see on screen. Digital photography offered up a brand new world, a new freedom that was only as limited as our imagination (and hard drive) could take us.
I consider myself a lifelong student of photography and always try to stay abreast of emerging technologies, techniques, and trends. One such technique that has been getting a lot of buzz over the past few years is that of HDR, or High Dynamic Range, where multiple exposures are combined together into one image and extend the color depth of the original exposure, capturing an image that more closely represents what our eyes really see. I’ve been studying HDR for awhile, seeing a lot of the good (and bad) that has come out of it, and have slowly included my own interpretation of that processing technique into my bag of tricks.
I look forward to making many new friends, sharing comments, and trading ideas with this wonderful Flickr community. If any photo really resonates or connects with you, I’d love to hear about it. Comments are a wonderful source of motivation and provide an inspirational fuel for me! I’m so very humbled and impressed by all the talented photographers that I’ve met here already.

Fresnatic says:
" I am extremely honored to write a testimonial for my friend, Jason. Who would have thought a chance meeting at the West Point Lighthouse in March of 2009 would have turned my photographic world upside down? I was there with my little Canon Powershot shooting the sunset like a tourist and there was Jason with his tripod and trusty Nikon shooting the same scene like a professional photographer!
Well I think he is a professional! One look at his photostream, and you will know that you have just entered the gallery of a great artist! His photographic "Eye" and his post processing all come together to create images of stunning, vibrant beauty. Jason's work is an inspiration for me to be a better photographer and I anxiously wait for every one of his new posts! I am glad that he is finally getting the recognition he deserves for his artistic creativity!
How did Jason turn my photographic world upside down? He introduced me to Flickr and the world of HDR Photography. That evening after shooting the sunset at the lighthouse, I went home and looked at Jason's photo stream. My jaw dropped at the beautiful images staring back at me from my computer screen. I instantly outgrew my little "Point and Click," and bought my first DSLR! As I am a lighthouse buff, Jason's shot of the Alki Point Lighthouse blew me away! This is what HDR can do? The shot did not look like a photograph, but more like a painting! This is what I wanted to learn how to do and thanks to Jason, I have!
Thank you Jason for the beauty you share with the world, and for the inspiration you provide! I cannot wait to see what masterpieces you create in 2010!"5th January, 2010

"Jason is an incredible photographer, never failing to impress and inspire me. Without a doubt he is one of the most phenomenal and gifted photographers I've seen on flickr, or anywhere. I predict this is just the beginning of a very bright and promising future for Jason as his wonderful works are now starting to get recognized, published and awarded. Keep up the great works.
Please check out his delightful photostream for yourself. You will be glad you did!
Thanks Jason for all the visual delights, and for being such a good friend!"4th January, 2010

Aileenie says:
"Jason’s photos are incredibly beautiful and inspiring. It’s very clear that he pours much of his heart, soul, and mind into each photo. Every detail seems to be perfectly in place and exist for a reason. His processing work is also remarkable, bringing out the magic in colors and tones that exceeds the beauty of the subject itself! Looking through his stream has been a complete pleasure and I really can’t think of a single photo that I did not love! It's been great having Jason as a contact and friend :)."
