Salam (peace) to all...
I am by no means a serious photographer but I enjoy taking snaps whenever I see something worth capturing. I own a Canon S400 and just acquired an EOS Rebel XT in an effort to take this hobby a bit more seriously =) .
I believe photography to be a means by which one can draw nearer to the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is in between. Indeed, all Praise belongs to Him, as there is no God but He. Photography is my way of thanking God (although any and all means of thanking Him are insufficient) for the beautiful earth He has laid out for His servants through His Mercy.
Behold! In the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the Night and the Day; in the sailing of the ships through the Ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which Allah sends down from the skies, and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds and the clouds which they trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth, (here) indeed are Signs for a people that are wise. [Quran, Surah Baqara, Verse 164]
