I learned in Kindergarten that I am colorblind. We were painting and mixing paint, and I kept calling the "green" paint "blue". I can still see that paint color like it was yesterday. It was "sea green", or "aquamarine", or "teal blue". In recent years, I have learned a few things that make me feel less ripped-off by being colorblind. I've asked my family whether socks were green or brown, and they've argued over it. Ha! I'll say. So it's not as plain as everyone has tried to make me believe for all these years!
My friend Dan explained to me using language I understood, musical terms, the meaning behind tonal differences in color. Though I may not see them (any difference at all), at least I've begun to understand what I'm not seeing. That makes me feel better.
Once when I was driving into Virginia on I-81, I experienced a rainbow that would forever change me. I learned to feel color that day. I truly believe I learned something.
I've also learned that apart from the occasional 1 green, 1 brown, I do quite well at pleasing color combinations. I've learned to relax about it all. There are worse things than being colorblind. I can't imagine being emotionally blind or spiritually blind.
I am an earthtone personality, but as sure as the melancholic winter sheds it's purple tears when the wisteria blooms, I have inside a seasonal flow of lágrimas púrpuras that brings a catharsis to my sighing greenbrown madrigal heart.

Claudia.Annette says:
"Rod's Greatness is at least two fold:
First, his photographs are eye-candy, often inspiring at least a smile. As if though that weren't enough, he usually includes anecdotes in his captions to take the savoring to a new level... a personal one.
Which brings me to point two.
Rod is incredibly kind and supportive. In no time, he becomes a flickerite friend you can't help but wish you knew in real life.
You're fantastic. Thank you, for just about everything ;ob"4th May, 2008

Calamitylaine says:
"I've been intending to write Rod a testimonial for a while now but was afraid I would not do him justice. Quite simply, he has a phenomenal ability to take everday objects and sights and compose a work of art. If he chooses to add a narrative or inspiring words, look out. If for some crazy reason his photos don't hook you, his writing will. His photos are a source of inspiration to me often. Also shining through in his photos and comments are his sense of humor, intelligence, love of nature, God, and family. I consider my self blessed to enjoy his company here on flickr."

"Rod has an amazing ability to capture life in the lens. His God-given talent of being able to see the "stop-and-smell-the-roses" moments and freeze them in time is a true blessing for the rest of us who may be a little too busy, self-centered, stupid, or careless to see them. Thanks, my Beloved, for sharing your talent with the rest of us."
