Annie Thornton-Wyman
A native of Florida, I moved to North Carolina to live with my daughter in April 2006. I am retired, however I still do photo shoots & sell prints . I enjoy my photo-art which is taking digital photos & enhancing them in photoshop. I love nature & close-up, digital infrared.

I was hooked on photography at age 12, when my sister, Betty, gave me my 1st camera, a turquoise plastic Argus box camera. My 1st SLR was a Canon TLQL which dates in the 60's.

In 1997 I began studies at Polk Community College, Winter Haven,FL. During those 3+ yrs, I took Photography I, 11, & 111; Journalism, Publications 1&2. In Photography III, I put together my first "Portrait Portfolio". I then had Digital Imaging. My friend & mentor, David Woods, the photography professor at PCC was instrumental in always keeping me photo-savy, trying different things & wanting to learn new things.

I have had my first DSLR, my Canon Rebel 300D converted over to infrared. I am truly enjoying that. Originally I did infrared the old fashioned way, shot Kodak HIE b&w infrared, processed the negatives & prints in the ddarkroom, so having a digital IR camera is wonderful! I love it!!!

I'm disabilities, I have found when I am feeling up to it, getting out to take photos. Then editing the photos in photoshop. Photography is the best therapy I have.

I love nature, the Gulf Coast beachs or Outer Banks, historic cemeteries & Civil War reenactments.

My cameras:
Canon Rebel D300 6.3mp. I have had it converted over to infrared digital by Jim Chen, jimchenphotography.com.
My last DSLR purchase has been my favorite to date, the Rebel XTi (D400) at 10.1 mp & again two new lenses, the Tamron 18-200 DXi (28-300 in 35mm) and the Sigma 105DXI 1:1 ratio macro lense.

Christmas 2010 I bought my latest all-in-one-zoom, the new super zoom by Olympia SP-800UZ. It's amazing!

I also carry a smaller standby camera, a Canon Powershot A590 IS with image stabilization, in my purse in case I see something of interest while I'm out and about.

I also have a collection of older cameras including a Realist Stereographic, a Minox Salesman camera with the Kit, a Retina & several others. I got the camera collecting bug when I worked for an old camera shop years ago

I joined flickr in Sept '07.

"Superb workmanship...an artist at our craft...a seer in light and vision! Photography means 'writing with light', and whether it is the beautiful buildings of North carolina, or a young girl in a yellow dress, ArtsiAnnie has captured the beauty of the subject. Could Ansel Adams, or any of the greats of the past done better....MMMMMMMMM! Generations of future artist will look at her work and be inspired. It is a priviledge to have her view my photostream, I am better for it!"
