I enjoy using my camera to better see, understand and feel my surroundings. Reaching and expressing the soul of the subject, animate or inanimate, or event is a goal. I use the camera for work and pleasure and am fortunate to often be able to combine the two. Whether capturing beauty, joy, despair, humor or solitude, I learn from and am inspired almost daily by the many excellent flickr photographers. I am interested equally in nature photography and capturing the many manifestations of the human experience. I am getting more disciplined about setting up a shot but do a lot of grab-and-go as well. If something catches my eye, I usually find myself going back for a shot without even knowing why. My camera is my sidekick and it goes where it wants to go.

    outlier* says:

"Oysters4me, Jon, is a visual storyteller, a chronicler of life in the Pacific Northwest--especially the Puget Sound and Olympic Peninsula, but also the Cascades and Alaska. He depicts the life and livelihoods in and around the sea and shores. Some of his photos are astoundingly beautiful, some are...not beautiful (mud runs, raw oysters), but all, always, are interesting and communicate his curiosity and sympathetic interest. I always learn something when I visit his photostream, and I always enjoy it!"
