"Not All Who Wander Are Lost"
----Bumper-sticker seen in Charleston, South Carolina
I'm usually found standing on a street corner with a cardboard sign that reads "WILL WORK FOR FILM". A permanently constipated writer (but still obsessive bookworm) who got into photography in a bass ackwards way, I discovered a viewfinder could do the job without a dreaded blinking cursor on a blank screen. Now I suffer from diarrhea of the shutter-button finger.
My life's goal is to visit and photograph in all fifty states in the U.S.. When I've done that, then I'll get a passport. While I'll do the obligitory tourist thing, my primary interest is along the backroads far off the tourist routes. Cities are beautiful, but the heart is in those tiny towns and lonely roads.

I happen to think I'm lucky enough to have some of the most talented photographers on flickr (or anywhere else, for that matter) as contacts. They inspire me every day. Please check them out.

"I have seen the TRUTH and it is J....Some of the most profound images you will see on flickr come from this photographer....The photos have been thought-out and captured so well that just looking at them makes me want to quit....See for yourself and do not skip a page.
She is what I want to be when I grow up :-) It is those quiet ones that you have to watch out for....They are deadly with a camera"4th June, 2007

Mark Griffith (Back in Beijing) says:
"J - Wood
Who knows her real name? Who knows what she really looks like? (Apparently she(?) is not bitten by the narcissistic bug that buzzes around so many people with a camera)
Regardless and besides the point, her photos evoke the south west, the light, the open space, the rock and the expanse. They make me ache for the dry air and the dessert sky. I live amidst the green, which I love, but I long to return to the quiet places that are captured so eloquently in jwoodphoto's stream."8th April, 2007
