I am a newspaper journalist by trade, and writing and photography are my passions.

I fell in love with the art of photography after taking a beginner's photography class in high school. I became more captivated by the craft when, as a college student, I bought my first camera during a semester as an exchange student in England. My early work consisted primarily of people and other journalistic shots for small newspapers.

Later, I turned my attention to street photography and landscapes, with a special interest in eclectic scenes from around the rural South. I gravitate toward anything old or abandoned, ordinary people at work or play, and anything that conveys a mood or atmosphere.

Most of my work is done in the Carolinas and in Georgia.
I look for poignant images of the rural South, rural decay and places that hold the remnants of the past but do not seem to have a future in our new global economy.

After 20-plus years of looking through a viewfinder, I am still learning and improving, and that is what makes photography fun. Thank you to all those who visit my flickr site. I hope you will find something that will amuse, inspire or intrigue.
