My short profile:

1. Loves photography to the extreme

3. Shoots medium and large formats
4. Has more photo-chemicals and film in fridge/freezer than food items and beer

My long profile:

Film photography was my biggest passion during my teenage years, a passion I unfortunately lost during my early career. I rediscovered photography a few years back after a traumatic event, and I am glad to say that my old passion for it is back with a vengeance.

After a brief love affair with digital photography, I have returned to film photography. I shoot medium and 4x5 & 8x10 large formats. It is to be different and scare people with the rich shutter sound of the Hasselblad or the sheer size of the 8x10 Cambo, which has people run for cover. More seriously, I find that some work is best done the old-fashioned way, such as landscape, architecture and portraiture. Creating a large format photograph helps to focus the eye, the mind and hopefully the camera. I like the character and added resolution of certain sheet films, such as Efke 25, Velvia 50, Tmax, Delta100Pro and Portra. I develop B&W, C-41 and E-6 myself and scan them to be able to share and archive them digitally. In addition, I experiment with old and novel chemistries. I find this a lot easier and more rewarding than working with photoshop ...

Update: 2011 has been a great year; I sold my first photo at a gallery exhibit and landed some paid commissioned shoots. In addition, two of my photos appeared in the local newspaper and covered two "orchids" in the Orchid & Onions architectural award. Goal for 2012 is to work on a website for selling art and tackle a coffee-table book.
