Born in Reykjavík in Iceland and lived there for 38 years.Migrated to Australia 1980 and have lived here ever since. One wife, four kids and nine grandkids.
Cabinetmaker and carpenter by trade and have been self employed since I finished my apprentiships 1966 and been manufacturing office furniture in Australia since 1981.
Borrowed a boxcamera 6 x 9 cm. from my parents for two years and bought my first 35mm. camera at age of fifteen.
Have taken thousends of pictures of my kids and family over the years. Been a member of flickr from july 2007, and completely hooked on it. Love to capture flowers, landscape, sunrise, sunset, or almost anything.
I find it difficult to be the good boy all the time, and many of my friends say I have very strange kind of humor. I take it as a compliment, so please don´t be surprised if I am a little bit different with some of my shots, I´m just having fun.
Life is to short to be grumpy.

Our daughter Berglind is a flickr member as well, her flickr address is:

"Hafsteinn is an adventure to find on Flickr! This mad Icelandic in Australia is king of sunrise and sunset! Unlike so many others you never grow tired of his shots of the sun. He has also shown me the beauty of Australia that was unknown to me, and he has confirmed the beauty I knew about in Iceland. Some of his biggest treasures is his photos from days long gone, they are glimpses in to a life that was seen by a young boy more interesting in shooting photos than working at the farm. Thank God for that!

His humour is sometime rough, weird and first class.

His biggest problem is that his wife takes just as great pictures as he does! I've told him to take her camera away, otherwise will he one day be known as the husband of that great photographer!!

Do take time to look through their photo stream, and make sure you have enough time!!"

"Howdy! I was so pleased to hear from someone in Australia and being Icelanders that I had to write to you straight away. I just want to tell you that I lived in Australia over 27 years. I migrated 1967 and moved back home Dec 1994. So hæ again. I still have to look at your work"
