Hi everyone, I go by my real name here on flickr and I've been a member of this great community for 6 years now. I have always enjoyed taking pictures before the time of digital. But it wasn't till I got my first digital camera in 2007 that I really got into it. I started out with a Canon PowerShot S5 IS and eventually bought the teleconverter & wide angle for this camera. I learned on it and got many great shots with this camera. I never imagined that down the road I would upgrade to a DSLR. In August of 2009 after a year of saving I bought a Canon EOS 40D and my first lense, Canon 50mm f/1.8 III. The transition from point and shoot to a DSLR was very easy because I was already using shutter & aperture priority on my S5. Everything else I learned pretty quickly. I loved having the ability to shoot in raw, that is great! I always shoot in raw and spend time processing my photos to the highest quality possible. I did get other lenses but wanting to shoot birds I needed a longer reach & after even more saving I was finally able to get the Canon 100-400L in April 2010. I think that lens is on my camera more then any other. I don't know what I would do without it! Living down the street from the Rahway River I have many opportunities to photograph all sorts of different birds year round but I mostly shoot the waterfowl, which is what I learned on. From the start of entering the digital world I have had many photos published and have even made some money in doing so! Its a great joy to see your photos published in any way. I am a proud member of the Camera Naturalist Photo Club (CamNats), the only club in New Jersey dedicated strictly to nature photography and the best in the state! I am also a member of the Cranford/Millburn Camera Club as well. I have won dozens of ribbons in CamNats and a few in Cranford/Millburn which I am a new member too. I have also won ribbons in the New Jersey Federation of Camera Clubs competitions.

I do take the time to go through my contacts newests photographs so dont think I have forgotten you, I always take the time to see others & comment their work. I might not get to them right away, but I do make my way there eventually. Sometimes it can be really hard trying to keep up with everyone.

Remember its not the camera that takes good pictures but the person behind the lens! The camera is just the tool, your eyes need to do the real work!

I am astounded by her passion and dedication to her work - her wildlife shots are simply delightful! She always captures her subjects from the best possible angles and there are some incredible moments on her stream. Her love for animals and all things nature just show in her images. I swear she can communicate with wildlife and I even suspect that she talks to them and they discuss between them what poses work the best. The animals are Jess' friends. She has a way with the wildlife shots for sure!
