I am a New York lawyer associated with the Maureen & Mike Mansfield Center at the University of Montana. Beginning in 2009, Japan will institute a jury system called saiban-in. I have been making monthly trips to Japan to talk to lawyers, judges, and citizen groups about the U.S. jury system.
