Almost all of the Brooklyn photos were shot while I was running through the various neighborhoods of the borough. That'd be "running" as in physical exercise, of course, not fleeing from the police or the mob or whatever. And yes, I did actually stop for a moment to take the picture.
During the summer of 2006 I embarked on the (perhaps, in retrospect, overly ambitious) project of running every street in Brooklyn -- all 1700 miles or so -- and was roughly halfway through when injury (and encroaching middle age, and a million other things) forced me to officially end it. I'm still taking pictures, however. Just not as many of old barber shops.
