I am the founder and president of the Silver Spring (Maryland) Historical Society, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to create and promote awareness and appreciation of downtown Silver Spring's heritage through sponsorship of educational activities and the preservation and protection of historical sites, structures, artifacts and archives. My "real" job is special collections librarian/archivist at the District of Columbia Public Library's Washingtoniana Division (DC local history) and Peabody Room (Georgetown local history). I am the author of "Historic Silver Spring" (Arcadia Publishing, 2005) and "Downtown Silver Spring" (Arcadia Publishing, 20010t). I may be reached at sshistory@yahoo.com.
