Painter, teacher, swimmer, traveler. I'm a native New Orleanian, but I've lived in Chicago most of my life. My husband, Steve Carrelli, is also a painter. We've had the good fortune to live and work in Florence, Italy several times, most recently from July 2005 to December 2006.

Although I've been a visual artist my entire life, I'm new to photography. I am getting a great education through flickr, exploring other people's photos and reading comments and blogs. For the last couple of years, I've used a Canon Powershot SD550. I'd never been interested in the more technical aspects of photography, but recently I've been wanting more depth and clarity in my images. I just bought a Canon Digital Rebel XTi, the complexity of which I find just a little staggering, but I'm excited about its possibilities.

I care deeply about the rebuilding of New Orleans, where I have more relatives than I can even count. I plan to add to my own photographic record of New Orleans whenever I'm able to visit. In the meantime, I eagerly seek other flickr members' photos of NOLA. A heartfelt thanks to all of you documenting this significant time in the city's history.
