"A very receptive state of mind... not unlike a sheet of film itself - seemingly inert, yet so sensitive that a fraction of a second's exposure conceives a life in it." Minor White

What I shoot with:
Canon EOS 30D with a 20mm 2.8, 100mm Macro, and a 28 to 105mm 2.8.
Calumet 4 x 5 with a Schneider 150mm. (I've shot 8x 10 before and loved the format, so I'm going to try to buy a Bender 8 x 10 kit and find a 300mm for it.)
Various studio strobes and hot lights, some mine and some borrowed.
Though I shoot digital I don't think I can ever totally leave the analog world behind. The main reason I want to get back to 8x10 is to platinum print. It's not that I think digital can't reproduce platinum effects. It certainly can. What it can't reproduce for me, at least, is the slow accretion of visual awareness that it forces me to engage in. Sometimes it's just too easy to click off a hundred shots without thinking. Large format's nature forces me to work slowly.

Ruthless the Toothless says:
"John is that person in your life whom you can rely on completely. He is my uncle, friend, confidant, and teacher. Through the roughest of times and the most loving times, John has supported me - high school through to college and hopefully beyond.
Not only do I admire his ability to entertain the eye, but I also crave his writings. John is a city unto himself and has the abilities of a god."26th July, 2006
