Traveling photographer and artist, professional treehugger, vegetarian cyclist, German expat living in the Netherlands and married to an American woman. Multiple academic degrees and too many interests, which makes it tough to concentrate on any one thing. I also like strong coffee with lots of organic milk and froth.

I pay for a flickr pro account to keep my flickr space ad-free. Your comments are welcome, and if you leave a comment, I am likely to check out your photo stream too. However, if you post ads/ awards/ badges for groups or for your own photos under my photos, I will delete them and ultimately block you. Please don't be mad at me if I don't return the favor of making you a contact. Once upon a time I had sworn to never have more than 100 contacts on flickr, because I can't possibly keep up with more. I have exceeded this limit by almost 70%. If you're a repeat visitor to my photos and leave interesting comments from time to time, chances are you will catch my attention and I might follow you back.

All my photos are labeled © All rights reserved. If you are interested in using any photo, please contact me and we can figure out the conditions. If you're a street artist and I happen to have shot your art, you will likely get it for free, if you mention my name in any publication (online or offline) and link back (online). If you're a private person and want a photo for your party room wall or your album of the QE II (it has happened before...), but don't have the money, I am usually happy to trade. I have already traded for a painting, beer, a handmade scarf, jewellery, Spanish cheese, and a couple of other things. Non-profits might get a free ride too, if I believe in their cause and if they mention my name and link back. All others will have to pay.

In 2011, I have vowed to improve my writing and have started a daily blog. If you care to check out my daily dose of verbal output, you can find my blog here.

    Ernie E - INACTIVE says:

"Gabi was one of the first persons who I got to know when I actively got into Flickr. Even before my first year in 365 Days Gabi complemented me on my photography at a time when I didn't know what the hell I was doing.

And this was coming from someone who had more experience than me and who has a gifted eye into seeing and capturing the world around her. Her photos transform seemingly uninteresting subjects into things of beauty and she shares all her experiences with us, not holding back on anything.

You should check out what she's seen and captured in her pictures and you'll agree, she's one of the best :)"

"You know, sometimes you make someone your contact because you like their photos and you want to make sure to keep up with their stream. But then, you get yourself a lot of contacts and it can be hard to keep up. And sometimes you go to visit someone's stream and they have won a ton of "awards" and they have hundreds of comments already, and you are happy for them, but there isn't much intimacy there.

Then there are the people who could win tons of awards, only they aren't as interested in that. What they want is dialogue, friendship, connection, and that's what they both request and demand, set the bar and limits for. And when you are willing, which I am, being the person who corners people at a party and stays with the same conversation all night, when you really want it, it's the best thing ever.

Gabi, she's one of those. I have cornered her at the international cyber photo party that is Flickr, and we are often off in the corner, guffawing, crying and commenting on each other's wins and losses, discoveries and derisions. So if you want some of the real stuff - both photographically and in terms of support, this is where you should be coming. This is where THAT party is AT."

"I sometimes think Gabi is a time traveller. She always finds so much time to create wonderful images that are forever changing in style, while at the same time surf through hundreds of threads to leave delightful little comments on the pages of other Flickrittes. I wish we all had her dedication to the cause!!"

    "Gabi.

Four simple letters. Push them together and they mean so much more to me.

This lady is a crack photographer, her compositions always eliciting a 'wow' from me, whether it be a spur of the moment self portrait, or some feature of our world captured through her lens. I find myself returning to photos of hers I've marked as a favorite over and over again. Each time seeing something new, while remembering why I chose it as a fave in the first place.

But beyond the photography? Gabi has a warmth that surrounds her every word. Without ever having the opportunity to meet her, I've grown to consider her a close personal friend, and someone who truly does improve my life by her being a part of it."

"Gabi is one of my most favourite people on flickr. I love her pictures. She just finds new stuff every day, unusal angles, brilliant colours, beautiful portraits, landscapes. She is the prove that there are so more pictures out there just waiting to be taken.

She is also a brilliant person and I make it my new project to meet her in the next 365days. I promise ;-)"

"I didn't know it at the time, but when Gabi adds you as a contact, it's a big honor. I know it now, and I do feel honored. This woman has major brains, a well honed power of observation, and a wonderful face that I love to see in her 365s. Her work is never boring, but always new and surprising. She sees everything, and shows it to us. That's what photography is about. What a wonderful person she is!"

"Do you ever wonder how people can meet and fall in love over the Internet? Grown people who should know better? I don't. Because Gabi's one of those people you meet and think: she could be my best friend.

Cybergabi and I met over her interesting photographs—shopping carts and trunks of Brussels sprouts and beer. They were interesting enough, but the conversations made me come back.

Now, though, I come here and am wowed by the photos—the candids she taught herself to take (amazing how quickly they improved) and the different ways she started to see once the bar kept getting raised by the Dave & Dave group.

So here she is, this sharp, brilliant, beautiful person with a kind heart that's always exposed, and she takes incredible pictures, too. And lets us into her life.

I smile whenever I see her avatar because I know some glittering jewel awaits me. And even though we've never met in real life, something about having the Cybergabi seal of approval can lift you up and make you float through your days.

    I"

"Gabi is one of the best people you could hope to meet on Flickr. Kind, full of beauty and talent, friendly and compassionate. Through her photos you are able to glance into the world of this fascinating lady. Whether travelling around the globe, or simply after a day's hard work, she takes pictures that grab your attention with her own special touch. It's a delight to see her changing over time, exploring new places to take photographs and trying out new techniques. I think there is nothing she couldn't do with the camera skills she has shown so far. I know she will go from strength to strength, and I look forward to seeing what she comes up with in the future. She is an inspiration, a driving force, armed merely with an SLR and her unique way of making the mundane look utterly fascinating. Don't miss her classic night shots of factories and industrial complexes in Frankfurt. Or her heartwarming portraits and descriptions. Her photos have great use of colour and shapes, always with a few surprises thrown in! Take the time to look at all her pages - you won't regret it. Her self-portraits continually amaze me, making for some classic buddy icons she uses. Gabi is also a wonderful person to know. Her warm heart is like a light that will shine over you, leaving you dazzled. Let the many contacts who know her on Flickr join in celebrating this amazing woman's talent. I think we can all learn something from her. So what are you waiting for? Get viewing her photos now! Gabi World(TM) is waiting for you."

"Gabi's photos are quite eclectic at first glance, but as you get to know them you'll start to recognize her very personal way of seeing in all of her different subjects.

A deep feel for color, an excellent capture of moods, wit and humor, and a great eye for composition are all part of what makes these photos some of my favorites on flickr, but there's also an added ingredient: that undefinable Gabi-ness that really makes them shine."

All I can add is, it was a great day when Gabi 1st saw one of my images and commented on it, since that day, I feel I have gained a valuable friend and advisor ; ))"

She is fiercely loyal, caring and often comical and has the ablitly to make you "feel" every one of her photos. Her portrayal of the human spirit is truly magnificent. To know her is to LOVE her!"

    Dave Luis says:

"When the mundane world is encountered by Gabi's lens, a strange transmutation occurs that reveals hidden in that ordinariness a haunting beauty. The world falls away to reveal exciting shapes, exquisite forms and, most engagingy, divine angles that give cause to re-evaluate the world around us.

There is also a warmth in her pictures, a very sentimental, human feeling, and viewing each photograph is a personal journey, cathartic in it's familiarity and epiphanous in it''s revelation.

This is where art is surpassed and craft begins. Gabi is a true genius at spotting a beautiful angle, a vivid colour, a perfect shot."

Her beautiful pictures are full of integrity and humour and she doesn't shy away from the tough stuff. Gabi's photos are a testament to her huge heart. Plus she has kick arse hair and looks amazing by frigelight."

"Ah...my sweet little Gabs. Such a warm and caring woman. And her photos! Who else can make a tampon look so interesting? Who else would think to? Her landscapes are vibrant and beautifully composed. Her objects are interesting and comical. Her self portraits are thought provoking and emotionally charged. But I've rarely been as moved by any photo as I was by her portrait of her mother entitled 'Frail'. Absolutely stunning. A masterpiece. Thank you so much for sharing something so private with us.

You're the light in my fridge!

    Andrew Kavanagh says:

"I appreciate Gabi's unfettered, experimental approach to photography. She succeeds by not over-complicating matters - an "I like it, so I'll shoot it!" attitude. This is not to suggest that Gabi's entire oeuvre is random or opportunistic. On the contrary, much of her work is transparently well conceived. I believe that this eclectic mixture holds something to beguile everyone. Furthermore, if you become a contact of the one they call Cybergabi, you are assured of insightful comments and witty repartee."
