My screen name, kiwêhowin, is a local "Indian" (Aboriginal or First Nations) word meaning "your name", so when Flickr asked for "my name", that's what I put down. I thought it was hysterically funny.

I've decided to make all my photos accessible to friends and family only, since I got tired of the whole Flickr game over a year ago....

    BigBean says:

"Although she is clearly a very able photographer, Heather is mainly known for her exceptional and utterly astonishing physical beauty. That much is clear and undisputed, and is what has drawn most of us to her.

An avid collector of strange notebooks apparently covered in the fur of small, blind, underground rodents, she also likes to stalk wild animals of all shapes and sizes in a place called 'Nature'.

For someone who chooses to live in a place where the winter temperatures drop to -45C she is surprisingly sane, and delightfully -yet decidedly- odd. Although the snowmobile helps.

Anyone who can drink the amount of alcohol she has been known to consume, stumble home and immediately sign into flickr at 2 in the morning to share the joy is clearly a force to be reckoned with.

May your supply of moleskines be endless, may the ink in your Lamy never run out, and may your Timbuk2 stay organised."

"I am always surprised at the range of her abilities, and the way she can show dozens of stunning images, casually, as though it is normal to have such an rare ability. This is one great collection. It has humour, beauty, and talent in abundance.
Looking forward to much more, maybe even some more mountains...

    The_Grizzly says:

""Here was the least common denominator of nature, the skeleton requirements simply, of land and sky - Saskatchewan prairie." - W.O. Mitchell (Who Has Seen The Wind)

kiwêhowin captures that spirit of nature. In her work you will find that the bare essentials speak volumes, that minimalism is indeed rich with imagery. You'll find that her pictures tell stories redolent of a sense of place."

    Rany Lutz says:

"I have only been exchanging critiques with Heather for a few days and she is just now starting to post some new digital photos, but I can already say that she has an unmistakable talent for this art!

Her composition and style could be used for examples in a text book.
I only hope she keeps sending the new photos to us.

I still don't know what kiwehowin means, ( I think it might mean Super Photographer ) in Inuet.

Anyway, I will stop before everyone gets teary,

    Rany"
