"I have known Felipe virtually for a number of years. He left the Rio shortly before I arrived. For years he ran the only website dedicated to the Rio Dulce. www.mayaparadise.... While he was here he was the first person to set up an internet cafe with international phone and fax service. At that time there were no cell phones here and you had to wait in line to use the one or two landlines that were available.

He is also an honorary staph member and technical adviser of Rio Dulce Chisme Vindicator website riodulcechisme.com/ as well as running his own personal blog. shuttersparks.blo...

I have only in the last few days had the opportunity to know Phil in the real world as he recently crossed the Gulf ahead of Hurricane Gustav aboard m/v Vagabond, a 50' oceangoing passagemaker.

Phil is not only a great guy but an awesome photographer. I hope he will teach me some new tricks with my fancy new camera that I mostly use on auto.

I welcome Felipe back to the Rio and hope to be able to spend more time with him. He is an extremely intelligent and fascinating person who can speak intelligently on nearly any subject.

Although I have known him only a short time in the real world, I consider him a very good friend and look forward to many good times and maybe some collaborative projects in the future.

    Welcome home Felipe!"

"I love ShutterSparks' pictures. Although he is my dad, so you might think I'm bias, his photostream is always interesting, with lots of creative shots, colorful shots, and different captures and perceptions of various subjects you would never think to photograph, like fountain pens. I love his pictures of the fountain pens, but never thought to photograph them until now. He has a unique imagination and creativity that is really great to see. I love just looking through his stream, seeing the different captures of the various things he has photographed. Sometimes there are too many great ones to comment them all. But I love to see his vision and creativity, and wish mine was like his sometimes. He loves constructive criticism, and I try to throw in my two cents, but most of the time he can offer more then I can. I can't wait to see more of great photographs once he really gets settled and starts making days of photography, we will all be in for a real treat."
