I'm a designer recently relocated to New York.

My most recent position was Senior Graphic Artist for a custom publishing company, where I designed – from cover to cover – books and guides for major metropolitan clients. In this position, I collaborated with clients, editors and other artists to address the specific needs and find the voice of each publication, and adapted myself to the style that best served the book. In addition to cover and interior design, my responsibilities included directing photo shoots for covers and managing a stable of freelance photographers and artists, uploading books to printers and checking bluelines and specs, and honing my time- and project-management skills as the sole designer on multiple large-scale projects.

Before being promoted to that position, I was the production artist for a monthly lifestyle-oriented consumer publication. This role not only included designing original ads, but meant altering mechanicals from the previous months, and troubleshooting with client-provided ads to ensure that they met production guidelines. My other responsibilities in this position included checking bluelines, designing and directing photo shoots for seasonal products catalogs, and producing marketing materials for the magazine.

I began my career as a key member of the marketing team for a sales training company. There, I contributed to the rebranding and subsequent brand management of the company and personally oversaw and executed the redesign of the logo, website, and collateral materials, in addition to concepting and designing direct mail and promotional pieces that resulted in new business.

I've also established a relationship with the Carolina Theatre, an historic vaudeville-era theatre in Greensboro, North Carolina, where my work has ranged from season calendars and programs to playbills for the various national touring acts that grace their stage.

I have thorough knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and Quark XPress. I thrive in a creative and collaborative environment, but I can also run with a project with little direction if necessary. I believe the most important quality a designer can possess is the ability to glean the essence of a project and translate it into a smart, effective, evocative design.
