Fall is upon us.

"You put your camera around your neck along with putting on your shoes, and there it is, an appendage of the body that shares your life with you. The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera."
~ Dorothea Lange

'you're young until you're not
you love until you don't
you try until you can't
you laugh until you cry
you cry until you laugh
and everyone must breathe
until their dying breath'

My name is Andrea, but most people call me Andi. I love to love and spread peace & tolerance. I like to be kind, for you never know what someone may be going through. I like to be an optimistic person and always make sure to look on the bright side of everything in life. I like to make people smile & laugh. The simple things and moments are what I cherish most day to day.

Art is a fundamental presence in my life. In any shape or form, it makes me who I am. I do not feel complete unless I am constantly being creative. Taking photographs is my true heart and soul.

I'm influenced greatly by beauty, human emotion/form and nature.

I started taking photographs solely for the reason that it became a catharsis for me. After my grandparents passed away in 2006, I became extremely depressed and filled with a very deep sadness, pain that I couldn't get rid of. At the time I was not a very verbal person when it came to expressing my feelings, and I discovered that through photography, I was able to express my emotions without having to say one word. People could see what I was feeling and relate to what I was feeling, with their own eyes.

Not only did photography allow me to be vulnerable, it also let me discover the true beauty of life. It taught me to see the world and what surrounded me in a unique perspective. I started to analyze and observe things more, finding magic in the simplest moments. My view of life in general shifted - it was as though I had shed of my skin, of the pain, and became an entirely new person.

My camera is my greatest friend whom knows all my secrets and has witnessed me metamorphosis.

The images seen on this photo stream reflect both who I was and who I am to become.

    JTHammond says:

"Based on her age, Andi could be classified as a young photographer. However, at 18, she already has amassed a body of work of well over 2000 photos, while producing few, if any, snapshots. She exemplifies the thoughtful photographer. To Andi, photography is not simply about aiming a camera and firing-off the shutter. Photography is how she best expresses herself. It's an outlet. A way to convey her emotions beyond the constraints of written or spoken language. She's not afraid to show her vulnerability; she's not even afraid to show that she is afraid. Her honesty in capturing images is a testament to her authenticity as a photographer and model.
With millions of photographers on flickr, it can be quite hard to distinguish yourself from the crowd. Andi has succeeded in doing so by showing her unique way of viewing the world through her lens. She has also stood out as the subject in many of her photos. Whether she's behind of or in front of the camera, Andi never fails in showing her audience the qualities that make her the wonderful person she is. Viewing Andi's photos doesn't just provide you a look into her mind; it gives you a look into her heart and her soul."

"Often on Flickr, you will come across a photostream that shows a small piece of the photographer's world.

Andi is unique in that she not only shows the world around her, but beautifuly conveys her inner feelings and emotions through her photos.

She holds nothing back and allows herself to become vulnerable through her art. You feel what she feels, whether this be happiness, sadness, joy or pain."

"Andi♥.... is terrific. Since testimonials are usually written about people in third person (right?), I will have no problem saying this. I sometimes look at Andi♥'s work and try to replicate what she does. Shhhh.. just don't tell her that. Although, I think it's a compliment. Most of the time I can't.. but I try to come close. That's as best as I can do for now. Raw. Very raw. I can't be that raw yet. But I'll get there hopefully."

"Andi is a very special girl. She is extremely creative and it always comes from deep down in her heart! At a young age, her eyes are open wide, which is hard to come by and I love this about her.

Not only does she take photos, and create beautiful images, she uses words wonderfully to help express her thoughts and feelings, which is very special. She has a connection with everything that surrounds her, and this comes across powerfully in her work!

She opened my eyes to the idea of self-portraits. Her stream is jam-packed full of different subjects and emotions, but what stands out the most is her ability to photograph herself without any doubts, she is full of confidence, which is beautifully contrasted with her delicate and vulnerable portraits!

I truly adore her, and only know her through the magical world of Flickr. We both have this overwhelming love for everything in life, and to see her new uploads every day really does bring a smile to my face, and in my hearts of hearts!

I would recommend anyone to check out her work, as it is beyond doubt an inspiration to us all! I admire her greatly, not only her photos, not only her words, not only the way she perceives the world, not only as a young girl on the road to success, but as a friend of mines, for life.

"Andi has the power to print a sense of freedom and sensibility in her shots, and that’s what makes her work so special to others. Nature, people, different scenarios or even minimalist details look brighter when they come from her hands. She’s got some serious talent when it comes to add a certain feeling to different shades of mundane. She’s grown a lot since she started here and I can hardly wait to see what’s coming next in the future.

A true, sensitive and delicious talent is all Andi’s got to offer. And believe me, that’s a precious bunch of artistic inspiration.
