I was born in Kenya in 1954. My dad worked for the colonial civil servce and we lived all over Kenya..my mum once said we moved something like 15 times in 20 years. One of my earliest memories is seeing elephants from my bedroom window at the age of 4 and hearing my mother beating a copper tray as the elephants rubbed up against the wooden house one night. Often we lived in places without electricity and sanitation was normally what we called a "long drop" .

I went to school in Kenya (Tigoni Primary school ?Duke of York/Lenana and Coldhams)

I left Kenya at 18 to go to art school in the UK (West Surrey College of Art and Design, WSCAD Farnham) and spent most of my working life working for the Government here normally on projects to do with employment /training and education. I took early retirement last year and I am working as a gardener and when I have any free time, on my art.

    "His art is nice
    And does entice.
But in an age of insanity,
To be an emissary for humanity …
    Now, THAT's Art."

"Here you are in the presence of a true artist. In an age where it is so easy to manipulate photographs and call it "digital art" Paul's work stands out as the real thing. Real art, always surprising, original, refreshing- a constant inspiration. Surreal collages, altered books, superb watercolours and oil paintings done not from photographs but 'on location', and an amazing collection of original old photographs. Most of all though it is the quality of the conversation that makes Paul's one of the most entertaining photo-streams on flickr. His sense of humour and his courtesy in acknowledging and replying to comments make you feel like a guest at a private party hosted by the artist."

"ART NAHPRO is one of the very rare artists who brings together in his art our collective history, through his use of imagery... whether it be famous paintings or popular culture, famous people dead and alive or movies stills, etc... These very eclectic combinations and juxtapositions speak volumns, yet speak to each of us in a very personal way. Thank you for being you!"

"As talented as he is generous. His pictures piece together imagination and reality and lead you see things in a new dimension. Whether it's his delicate ethereal paintings or a collection of imagines long ago he speaks in a language worth learning. If poetry is bread for the soul then ART NAHPRO is a feast for the eyes."
