"Jon has a very unique style when it comes to his photographs. When I am looking at my contacts recent photos, I can always spot Jon's photos without even looking at the name. He does a lot of quality black and white work, and when he does color, the colors are light handed enough that they don't dominate the photo... unlike the way most of us go overboard with color. To me, this is a sign of a true photographer because he lets the photo speak for itself... not by letting the colors grab your attention instead.

The other thing that always amazes me with Jon's photos are the way he reads and uses light. We could all learn a lot just by observing what he does with available light, or with strobes. Where his use of light stands out the most is especially true on his portrait work.

Photography aside, I have been with Jon on quite a few of the Grand Rapids Flickr photowalks. He is always a pleasure to talk to.... a genuine nice guy! I've learned more from him than he may realize. Take some time to enjoy his photostream. You'll be glad you did!"
