As a kid, I kept asking my dad to teach me photography but as soon as he said ISO and focus I walked away. Three years ago I got my first point&shoot, two years ago I watched with jealousy all the flickr folk shoot amazing pictures thinking I wanted that too. I wanted that creative outlet too but felt I had no skills or talent. Two years ago I started 365 and never in my dreams expected to be here today with my 5D, lenses, strobes and plenty of flickr friends. I love the emotional outlet that photography is for me. I am not talented. I am an inspiration thief. I look at the amazing things people do around here and go out and copy their stuff adding my own touch to it. Sometimes I fail miserably, sometimes I get gems but who cares it is all about the journey.

"Tyla is no-nonsense, but also plenty of fun. She takes photography seriously and she's seriously talented. Quick to offer support or a witty comment, she's someone that keeps things fresh and light on Flickr. Her street-photography is inspirational and her portraits draw you into the subject. She beautiful and determined and one day, I hope to buy her a brew."

"Tyla is the person I have to thank (blame?) for getting me into flickr.... I browsed Explore and came across a phenomenal picture of hers (picturing Tyskie of course). I was captivated by the description in the picture.... which mentioned 365days & then I decided (to my demise) to jump in. Following this she also became my first contact (outside my family) & I have been an avid follower of her work since then .... She always produces such cool & imaginative pictures, plus leaves such warm comments for her contacts... a pleasure to read. On the downside, she is way to cruel to Yellow Man."

"Despite being a self-described pain in the ***, Tyla's presence here in the Flickrverse is anything but! She is talented, sassy, outspoken, generous, and just downright creative.

Tyla's images and stream caught my attention by the creativity and sheer breadth of the work she produces! She is always shooting consistently great images covering a wide variety of subjects. Along with the choice of subjects, she also has the talent and know-how to apply many different styles to her work. And last but not least, her passion for life and her fierce independence are shared with us all in such a fantastic manner, bringing together a visual and mental journey that just must be followed to be fully appreciated!"

"Of all the photographers on flickr, there are few who have such personality in their photos, each image is packed with her attitude and passion. Tyla is one of my regular favourites, and I hope to meet her in person some time soon (as soon as I get my butt to the UK)"

"Go through Tyla's photostream and you'll see someone who's artistry, creativity and technical expertise is an absolute wonder to behold. I always look forward to seeing her newest works and the stories that come with them and they never disappoint.

Plus she doesn't shy away from showing what's on her mind, whether they be positive or negative. The honesty reflected in her works and in her shots provides a window into her world that many have come to appreciate.

I'm proud to know Tyla and I'm proud to call her my friend."

"Click over to Tyla's stream and you're instantly struck by the presence of this fierce, insightful woman. I just love seeing the world through her eyes.

In some ways, it feels like Tyla's my flickr soul-sister: we share a miscellaneous aesthetic: lots of urban grit, emotive portraits, and some good old fashioned fun. But I cannot match the energy level of her photos. She's got some serious mojo!"

"Bossy, no nonsense, chilled, happy, fun, random, happy...... just a few words that describe Tyla (pron. Tilla)

Been a fan of her work for quite a while and had the opportunity to meet up with her recently which involved photography and beer (possibly the greatest combo!), saw the initial concept of her images at the time of shooting and hours later the end result online - there is some very clever processing on her work but the sooc images are excellently seen and captured in their own right.

If you go to London give her a shout, she loves the really busy really touristy places....."

"Tyla has inspired me a lot this past year, I got to know her through the 366 project, where she's taken some beautiful self-portraits, and she takes equally beautiful pictures of others (I'm specifically remembering an amazing picture of an extreme bicyclist that was fantastic!), and everything around her. On top of all that, she's probably the nicest flickrer I know."
