Retired!

Photography has been an interest and has occupied me on and off since my early teens...which means I have been involved for hmmm...some 50 years.

In Dec 09 I felt I needed a new challenge to 'focus' on and joined the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) with the aim of eventually gaining the LRPS distinction. Over the following few months I assembled a portfolio of digital images that I felt might meet the necessary standards and was lucky enough to be awarded LRPS in April 2010.

So where next? ARPS, of course. It was high time to move out of my photographic comfort zone and to try to develop a more distinctive, individualistic style by trying my hand at 'Street' photography. Taking inspiration from the likes of H C-B (of course), Joel Meyerowitz, Martin Parr and Elliot Erwitt , I sallied forth onto the Street. Nerve-wracking. Definitely outwith my comfort zone.

The results so far? My portfolio of Street Life images (subtitled Public Places – Private Faces) attempts to capture the interactions of people and environment, the moments of introspection, the conjunctions and contradictions of people and street furniture, their body language, the moments of (inadvertent) humour and their thoughts and emotions.
