"Though I desire to at least posess on film every such tender thing that is glimpsed and brushes past, no matter how much I shoot most of what I want simply flows away like water spilling through a net, and always what remains are only vague, elusive fragments of images, somewhere between afterimages and latent images that sink into countless strata of my mind." -Daido Moriyama [Memories of a Dog]

At the age of 31 I packed up my life and moved from the United States to South Korea in order to teach English. I needed to shake up my life a little. And it worked; things were definitely shaken up (in a good way).

In March of 2007 I bought myself a DSLR in order to document my life on the other side of the planet. After some months of rekindling a passion for photography and reacquainting myself with the fundamentals, I sold off the DSLR and purchased a film rangefinder to replace it. I am in love with film and have been shooting with it ever since.

After 18 months in Korea, I returned to Portland, Oregon to be with my soon-to-be wife. After one year. we were married and returned to Korea together. I live Busan.

"good photography restores the mystery of the world by stopping time so that we can both see and reflect upon what is there. hence the unending strangeness of photography: that it both documents the world, establishes what is essentially there, while at the same time showing to us what we cannot see with our eyes alone. so if photography has a redeeming or cleansing effect on our vision, it is because it seems to restore both the reality of the world and its essential elusiveness."

"When God gives you a really good shot, don't rat Him out. Claim it as your own." -Bill Pierce

"I've quickly become a fan of Lee's work. He has a keen eye for composition and for when things are going to happen. I learn from him every time we go out shooting together. He has incredible patience and the ability to hold back on the shutter to get his composition just right. I'm so happy to have Lee as a friend, neighbor street shooter, and contact."
