I love a seeking eye, testing for possibility. I love an uncompromising eye, finding the nitty and the gritty. I love beauty and form and shape and line and texture. I love motion; I also love symmetry. I love color, whether vibrant burst or subtle hint. I love contrast: black and white, sharp and soft, happy and sad. I love thoughtfulness and intention. I love the effort to communicate something profound.

I do not care for photos that are dumped out of cameras (with IMG_ or DSC_ plus numbers as titles)--those, I tend not to glance at. Give thought to what the photo means to you, and I am delighted to fit it into my own sphere of meaning.

I'm also not a big fan of awards, or of groups that insist on congratulating a certain number of others. If I see a photo that catches my eye, I will stop and say something. I'm happy--honored--to do that. Often, what catches my eye isn't something glitzy--oversaturated, of a graphic-arts quality--but something small and, I can tell from the thumbnail, heartfelt. I love catching those photos especially.

I think flickr is a wonderful community, and I'm happy to connect with others of you out there. Drop me a comment, and I'll drop in on your stream. It's always enriching!

    mtsofan says:

"More so than other photographers, Anne extends an invitation. She invites us to follow her on an adventure as she climbs rocks in the desert, or walks under the pier near home, looking for aquatic life. She invites her Flickr friends to learn about a culture through its art and customs, or about a discovery she's just made. Through photography and narrative, she tells us the story of the rescue in which she's most recently participated, and invites our souls to connect with the humanity of those involved.

I never know what to expect when I look for Anne's next post. But, I am certain it will be down-to-earth, and often transcendent at the same time. Thank you, Anne, for including me on your journey."
