Steve Thoroughgood. Get yours at bighugelabs.com/flickr

Married, aged 54 with two kids, a daughter (who left home several years ago) and a son who's now left school and studying Art & Design at college. Living and working in the Medway Towns. Became a grandfather on 28 June 2008.

As will be apparent from my pictures, I am no photographer; You won't learn anything from looking at my photos except, perhaps, how NOT to do things! However, I enjoy the subjects I photograph. Those you see here are untouched, and I only use Photoshop (and the like) for removing dust & scratches, and occasionally to correct colour cast, perspective and brightness. Hopefully, one day, my photos will provide a record of things gone by for future generations to enjoy.

Photos over the years have been taken using, variously, a Brownie box camera, a Zorki Rangefinder, a Ricoh 'point & shoot', a Zenith EM and various cameras borrowed from my old man. I converted to digital with a Samsung Digimax A6 in 2005, but currently use a Pentax K200D.

All my photos are dated and geotagged as accurately as possible. However, it should be appreciated that the bulk were taken over thirty years ago and that many of the places featured no longer exist. In those cases, I have geotagged as best as the old memory will allow.

As of now, and unless I know who you are, I will no longer be accepting contact requests from persons who have "nothing available" to me. In fact, I will be deleting existing contacts who fall in to that category. At the same time, original size photos from my transport sets will no longer be available to download, and I will no longer fulfill requests for copies of individual photographs. Far too much of my copyrighted work is being offered for sale on ebay and the like.

    monaxle says:

"Steve's passion for his interests is unquestionably illustrated throughout his photo stream. A rich and varied collection thoughtfully put together with the attention to detail that only comes from a genuine love of his subjects. In isolation the prosaic is just that; with context and comparison it becomes something quite extraordinary. A remarkable transformation which is achieved with Steve's vision and obsessional devotion to his mission. A treasure chest to dip into which won't leave you disappointed."

"One of the most important things about photography is recording History. And Steve is doing a Great job of this. He say's he's not a great photographer but I think he's being too hard on himself. And it's what he's doing with his camera that is the important thing, preserving the past so that people of the future can see where they came from!"
