I am a retired HS teacher. I taught many subjects; drafting, introduction to Architecture (Comm. College), World, US and European history, Photo One, cold metals, small engines, etc.
I am married to the most wonderful woman to walk the earth- we have two grown sons who have their own strengths.
I am proud to be a Yellow Dog Democrat from Orange County, CA.
I have loved photography from my high school days. My folks had an old Kodak 120 and I used it every time I could find money for film. That was not very often, I’m too sad to say. My uncle was a photog for the navy in WWII and was later published in small local newspapers in Northern MO. Maybe the genes have do have something to say.

The flickr name, mr5050looksgood, comes from two things.

1] My moustache is half white and half brown. The kids in my classes called me that when they were not calling me other things - “Sticks and stones, etc.” It didn’t hurt my psyche at all; I could flunk the wise guys, power is a great thing. “It is good to be the king.” You would not believe the number of kids who asked me if I knew of my two tone stash. (I know it was a measure of their lack of people and speaking skills, not their stupidity.)

2] An old joke from a Hawaiian comic; set in the early 1900s. A guy shopping for a mule in Hawai’i is told by the pidgin speaking local mule skinner that his choice is not a good one, “he no look so good!”
The haloe snaps back, “I know mules, this is a great looking mule, I want him!” The local says, “he no looks so good.” Haloe: “BS! I’m buying this mule.”
Next day the Haloe brings back the mule and says, “You crook, this mule is blind!”
Local guy, “I tol you, he no looks so good!”

I love the joke; it has so many things to say about the human condition. I took the core of the joke to name my semi-official photo publishing division; He Looks Good Image Publishing. It is part of my semi-official publishing company Goes Best With Beer Publishing. Which is a divison of Curb Your Doggerel Publishing. If its not fun, why do it?
