I specialize in atmospheric landscapes and cityscapes of California. Having grown up in Marin County, California, I've always had a fascination with and passion for the awesome beauty of nature and the intersection of urban and natural landscapes.

I first picked up my parents' vintage Nikkormat camera and took a printing and developing class at age 12, and was hooked from my first roll of film. I continued to focus on black and white photography though high school. I credit my "eye" to thousands of hours in the darkroom -- nothing disciplines a photographer like spending dozens of hours perfecting a single shot.

After a hiatus from photography while attending college, I bought a prosumer digital camera in 2004 when I moved to Boston. I was captivated by the city's many stunning contrasts: blunt and matter-of-fact to dignified and refined. Chilling ice to blazing heat. Ancient brick and sparkling glass. Educated and elite to working class. I was moved to capture Boston's unique beauty and atmosphere in my images and developed my current style, which I describe as simple, bold, and graphic, and with a bit of romanticism and nostalgia thrown in.

I have since moved back to California and have graduated to a much larger gear bag. For the technically inclined, I shoot primarily with Canon equipment. My current camera is a Canon 5D, and my favorite lenses are the Canon 70-200L, Canon 24-70L and the 100-400L. I use Tiffen circular polarizers and have recently begun to use Lee graduated neutral density filters and the Cokin filter holder system.

I'm a contributing photographer to Alamy and Acclaim Images. My images have been published internationally in books, travel guides, magazines, hotels, postcards, greeting cards, calendars, websites, and public and private collections.
