I'm just an "old guy" (older than what you ask?) who started with digital still photography in the fall of '06. As you can imagine I love waterfalls(figure I've been to around 150, large and small in this area of western NY).Many more in other areas.I took digital video exclusive of anything else for over 7 years.

After a year and a half with a really great advanced Point and Shoot, the Sony H2, I have recent moved up (I hope it's "up") to a Sony digital SLR - The Sony Alpha A-200. I am just learning the ropes with that baby. I hope to improve my slow shutter speed waterfall pictures now that I have apertures smaller than the restrictive f8 which the Point and Shots have.

In May of 2010 I moved up to a Sony a-550. That makes 3 Sonys. I would have no other. I'm not into listing lenses.

As of late August, 2011 I am shooting with a Sony A580. I was able to sell my A-550 to a good friend. I made this move (are you ready for this!?) because the A-580 starts its ISO's at 100. I just could not get used to not having that low ISO (The A-550 starts at ISO 200 for some reason) for my long exposure waterfall shots.

I Love the way these Flickr groups work and I am thankful for those who have helped me so much and applied kind words to my pictures.

"In addition to the fabulous pictures to be found flowing through fallsguyd's stream, is the charming wit and wisdom of the photographer. David sees the world through a "different" lens and he is fascinating!

"He shares one of my greatest passions, waterfalls. He captures them in the most beautiful light. The challenge with photographing waterfalls is it is hard to walk away with a photo that allows you to look at it later and still feel as if you were there...fallsguy does just that. You look at his photos, you feel the mist, smell the water and hear the sound..."

"David is a very quiet unassuming guy that takes some really wonderful photos. It goes without saying he is the king of the Falls in Photography!

...... and by 'quiet' I mean he is not shouting it from the rooftops (like I would!) but I see he has 17 photos in Explore. Only great photographers can reach that level. :-)

David always gives great constructive criticism which is appreciated."

"I've been a fan of David's sensitive treatment of Nature for some time. Looking at the close-ups of his birds reveals a familiarity with these tiny, colorful creatures that comes from a keen awareness that I hope to acquire someday. And... I'm also jealous that we don't have half as many of these song birds here in northern Calif."
