When it comes to photography, my interest was born when I was about 10 years old. I signed up for a photo course where I learned the basic photography and darkroom techniques. After that I got myself a now classic compact camera, the KonicaC35, which I used during my teens, shooting mostly slide film. In the mid 80's I worked as a journalist at a student magazine (Lundagård) and at one of Sweden's larger newspapers (Sydsvenskan). Being around press photographers awakened my interest in SLRs, and I got myself a second-hand Olympus OM-1n. After a few years my interest dropped to the snapshot level, but was awakened again with the digital era.

Software
I do all my work in linux (Debian). I use Bibble and it's successor AfterShot Pro to process raw files, Noice Ninja to deal with high ISO noice, and Gimp to do additional editing.
I do not believe that editing is cheating, it's just an easier way to do what photographers always have done in the darkroom before the digital era.
I like
Vivid color, close-up portraits, minimalism ("less is more"), the unexpected.
Quotes
Leica, schmeica. The camera doesn't make a bit of difference. All of them can record what you are seeing. But you have to see. -Ernst Haas
When you photograph people in colour you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in B&W, you photograph their souls! -Ted Grant
Buying a Nikon doesn't make you a photographer. It makes you a Nikon owner. -Unknown
Every time someone tells me how sharp my photos are, I assume that it isn’t a very interesting photograph. If it were, they would have more to say. -Unknown
Finally, this one exists in two different versions with totally different people involved. Don't know if any of them are true:
1.
When Jack London had his portrait made by the noted San Francisco photographer Arnold Genthe, London began the encounter with effusive praise for the photographic art of his friend and fellow bohemian, Genthe. You must have a wonderful camera...It must be the best camera in the world...You must show me your camera. Genthe then used his standard studio camera to make what has since become a classic picture of Jack London. When the sitting was finished, Genthe could not contain himself: I have read your books, Jack, and I think they are important works of art. You must have a wonderful typewriter.
2.
Ernest Hemingway: "Good pictures, what camera do you use?"
Irving Penn: "What typewriter do you use?"
(This counter was added in April 2008.)
