A visual map of global encounters is found in the images produced by Ian Stanley. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, he spent most of his younger life in Western Canada before heading out to live in diverse countries such as Germany, Ghana, Nepal and Thailand. His work also took him to Cambodia, China, Inner Mongolia, Tibet, Japan, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Western Europe.

Previously he photographed almost exclusively in black and white - hand printing in his Kathmandu darkroom. A move to Bangkok led to the addition of Giclee printing to his work.

As well as producing traditional black & white prints, Ian is currently involved in the production of Giclee colour and black & white prints. These are being produced on a wide variety of material including archival watercolour, Nepali, Thai, photo paper and canvas.

A move to Cambodia in January of 2009 opened a new world to discover and photograph.
