I love to study nineteenth-century pop-culture, artifacts, events, ephemera and fashion. Basically, everything about nineteenth-century life. But I love other periods as well. I live off of learning things about the past, but I don't ascribe to any kind of cutesified version of history. I strive to find and know what it was like for the past's everyday Joe and Josephine. Because they mattered, and they were the ones that kept, and even today, still do keep, the world going.


I kind of hope that that comes across in some of my photography, because while I can be silly, I can get downright serious about things when I want to. Because, you know, sometimes you have to to get the point across.


And, I have a tumblr blog where I put lots of my drawing-type things.

I now shoot with a Nikon D90. I upgraded in December of '09 from a D50. I started into digital photography with a point n' shoot Kodak DX750. Now that I've done digital, I've started getting into film and alternative processes.

I also shoot with these lenses:

AF-S Nikkor 55-200MM DX, 1.4-5.6: Big on zoom, but not a whole lot going on in the sharpness department, but it's absolutely lovely when used in manual mode - and gives some beautiful vignetting.

AF-S Nikkor 18-55MM DX 3.5-5.6: Before I bought my fiddy, this was my most oft used lens.

AF Nikkor 50MM 1:1.8 D: My newest and favorite lens. I love my fiddy.

I also have an SB-400 Speedlight Flash which I'm trying to get used to, but it's a learning curve. I do love what happens when the flash bounces the right way.

I have a few filters other than the usual UV and polarizers - I have yellow, red and sepia filters (a pair of cheap clip-on lenses for sunglasses.)

I also have a Kodak Duaflex III which I use for TTV effects.

I am now the proud owner of a brown and tan Kodak Beau Brownie No. 2 which I shoot 120 film on. I'd adore to have some of the other colors, so if you've got one, that's not brown and tan, shoot me a flickr-mail and we'll talk.
