Across & Down (camera

Hi Flickr People,
I live in Brandon, Manitoba, in the very middle of Canada. I bought my first camera (and first car) during the same week almost 30 years ago - both for $150. The car (a Plymouth) and camera (a Minolta) are long gone, but I still like taking pictures.

"I've always loved your work, even though I don't know you.
But man, you've got some serious skills!
Any tips for a beginner like me? :)"17th November, 2008

"There are many unanswered questions in this life....is there life on Mars?.....is the Pope Catholic?......is there life after death?.... is Canada a state of mind?...but one that constantly puzzles me....is Jo-Ann Douglas a sandwich short of a picnic or a genius?....for me its the latter.....she`s the most original, innovative, inventive photographer on Flickr and her photography is wonderful.....she never fails to surprise me and I`m glad she`s a contact and a friend of mine."

Thompson Photography says:
"Jo-Anne, the subjects on your stream are many and varied but I've noticed that you always return to the wonderful landscapes (and skyscapes) of your region as your primary inspiration. I am awed by your depictions of them on a regular basis!
I've also enjoyed getting to know you better through our interactions on Flickr. I absolutely love your sense of humor (or is that humour?)! We are totally in-sync. : )
Thanks Jo-Anne for your wonderful work and for your friendship!"24th September, 2008

Prof. Tournesol says:
"Every time I look at Jo-Ann's prairies pictures, I want to take the car and drive up there! Her photos of Manitoba are THAT good, there must be something I could shoot too... She has a wonderful sense of space, and knows how to benefit from the wonderful vistas and big sky. Her post-processing adds a little drama that makes those images eye-popping.
Keep on posting all that beauty!"12th July, 2008

"Jo-Anne's photos of the prairie landscape make me want to pack my suitcase, hop in my car and head to Manitoba. Her junkyard shots are simply amazing...she is the queen of rust. Looking forward to seeing more broken down trucks and school buses!"

Ms. Abitibi says:
"Jo-Anne has mastered the way to capture the beauties of the Canadian Prairies wide space & big skies. She is not afraid of going out when it is freezing cold outside to capture beautiful images. She likes trying new stuff and has developed a very unique style. It is always a pleasure to discover what she uploads!"
