Shot film since the age of 8 (folding box brownie...) and started trying my hand at bird/nature photography a few years later, then mostly shooting in B&W using a home made hide, with inspiration provided by the likes of Eric Hosking. As an impoverished schoolboy relying on pocket money, I used to buy 50 foot strips of film (Adox, mostly) and load it into 35mm canisters, then develop the usually dubious results at home.

Not so much photography for a long while (work took over from the hobbies) but in 2005 I bought a little Nikon Coolpix, and quickly became a digital fan. Instant results, with the fantastic ability to make changes and see what works (and doesn't!) straightaway. What could be better? I've abandoned the darkroom for now, and for digital I now use Lightroom (mostly) and PS Elements 7. I've stopped using CS4 as I found that for my needs it was complete overkill. I occasionally use DXO Optics Pro, too.

Still taking lots of photos, but these days I'm posting much less frequently to Flickr. Too much time was being spent online and not enough getting out and about! My Photostream is mostly just snaps of stuff, rather than what I would call "proper" photographs, but that's something I'm still working on...

Flickr is a great source of inspirational photos and a great community too. So much to learn, so much to enjoy!
