I am not a photographer. I'm a guy who takes pictures. Some of these pictures turn out well. Many more do not. I am a photographic product of the digital age, someone who kills time taking five or six hundred shots and getting about 20 good ones. I don't like gimmicks. I'm not much on the fancy art shot or Photoshopped fuzziness or anything that might wind up on a Post Secret postcard overlain with phrases in emo. I prefer simplicity.

My subjects come in three varieties. I live in Chicago and like to shoot things emblematic of daily city life (though I'm not very good at people pictures.) I take lots of road trips, and am always in search of beautiful landscapes, especially in national parks. I love geology and am in the process of midlife occupational redirection to that end. Many of my photographs, therefore, describe geological concepts.
