I am addicted to old cameras, film and chemicals, what more can I say....

I like my photos raw and pure, working close to my subjects and with open aperture. Grain, soft tones and bokeh are my friends, as are the effects of using ultra wide lenses.
I use SLR's from Olympus OM and Pentax next to Leica, Yashica and Olympus rangefinders.
I also have an Olympus E-510 with two HG lenses (ZD 11-22mm and 14-54mm mkII) but use it only for snapshots.

    Holden Richards says:

"Kees is an original, often focusing on the urban and the structural his work is always compositionally elegant. Equally adept with photographing people, he brings the viewer into the event."

    Fogel's Focus says:

"Kees has become a real friend on flickr. We share a love of the Olympus OM system. His lenses are all a stop faster than mine, but he shoots in low light more than I, so maybe he needs it. Kees is a master with bokeh and in capturing live music in a way that you really feel you are there. He has mentored me in push processing and is always there to comment on my photos. Lastly, Kees made me co-moderator on the OM-2 group. I appreciate the confidence he has shown in me both as photographer and person."

"As a fellow Olympus "Nut", I have followed Kees' work with admiration, his artful use of the analog medium has inspired me to adopt film as my primary source for making images."

    ......Tim Connolly...... says:

"You are an exceptional photographer and you have been an inspiration to me. I went digital because it was the "thing to do" but now I have a much broader view, thanks to you. There is a real joy in using film and it is your continued support and motivational comments and suggestions that have made me think more about the picture rather than technology. You have an amazing sense of composition - a new way of seeing.

If you happen to be reading this then I suggest that you spend time looking through Kees images and you will see exactly what I mean, even more so you will learn a great deal from him."

    s3Arch says:

"He is one of the reasons that got me into the Olympus culture and I love it or what. His work is different from the other materials that you would find in flickr. I like the way he portrays his subjects. Simple yet intense.
Kees was my source of inspiration when I set up my darkroom. And now with an M7 in his hand, the sky's the limit."
