Hello, my name is Randall van der Woning. I am a photographer/writer living in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Photographic is my portfolio of Hong Kong and travel images, from famous scenes to the seldom seen.

I lean toward the details; bits of Hong Kong's culture and way of life often overwhelmed by the city's dynamism. I have been published by National Geographic, as well as several local magazines, including The Peak and BC Magazine.

Images are available for licensed use, from publications to web sites. Need something specific? Just ask.

Visit Hong Kong Photographic if you live in Hong Kong or plan to visit and would like to take some photography lessons.

    Ray van der Woning says:

"Randy's photography forces me to look anew at my own work, and how I see. Look these images up by name, and see if you don't agree.

No Fear and End of Run are two outstanding people shots. No Fear is not only an outstanding action capture but it is also excellently lit. Timing and lighting are everything. End of Run is all about directional lighting. Powerful. Intimate. Superb.

His documentaries of life in Hong Kong remind me of Life Mag or Nat Geo imagery: The Game, Chasing Fireballs and Faded Portrait all tell stories of a thousand words. The Venice of Hong Kong is beautifully lit and composed.

And, he's bested me in my own backyard. Rolling Canola is a different interpretation of a scene I've shot (and which I like better than mine) and Pioneer Days is a perspective of a homestead in Alberta that I've completely missed: And I've been there three times!

He works a different genre than I do, and he works it well."
