At a glance his works look splendidly realistic and perfectly captured textures (skin, leather, bark, etc), but on closer exploration you'll see hallucinatory and magnificently textured patterns whorling throughout. A corner of someone's eye can be imagined as mountain or spacescapes, or the texture of someone's skin might look like gazing into a pool of water.
