www.flickr.com/photos/thesunanddoves/collections/72157600... took it over in 1995. Mark's business partner is Nicola Francey who's worked with him since opening the pub... ALL that time ago.

Front of house is now overseen by Stephanie Quere a multi lingual Breton and a lot of changes are coming through. We had a major refurb towards the end of 2006 and we've been doing stuff ever since to get ready for no smoking and the summer (?).

We aim to be the best bar in London.

This madeover corner pub sets out to be a gallery and even a community resource as well as a bar-diner. And it succeeds on all fronts.

In a single large, airy and bright room, one can dine on everything from beans on toast to tuna steak on red chard with lemon vinaigrette.

The wines travel the world from New to Old, and the massive beer garden is a huge draw in the sunshine months.

The menu claims to offer `the best cocktails this side of the river'; if their truly outre Bloody Mary with Guinness is anything to go by, this may be no idle boast.

The bar doubles as a gallery space showing contemporary artists, hosts acoustic music nights and even runs a wine-appreciation course.

Indeed, only the Sun's lack of beds will stop you from never going home again. An absolute one-off.

Art exhibitions - live acoustic music. Babies and children welcome. Music (musicians 8.30pm Sun; free). No-smoking area. Restaurant. Tables outdoors (20, garden; 8, forecourt).
